✨What is Displaced History? You know you want to know...✨

"Is this a kissing book?"

Happy International Kissing Day! If you've ever seen The Princess Bride, I bet you heard the above quote in the grandson's young, yet disgusted voice. But even he didn't mind the kissing toward the end, going so far as to encourage his kindly grandfather to not skip that part this time.

l love that movie. I've always loved a bit of romance in my stories. The lovey dovey parts are some of my favorites.

For me, though, there has to be more. While I love to swoon and sigh wistfully, I also love to see a character come into their own. Chase their dreams and slay their dragons. Overcome the obstacles placed before them to seize the day!

The best characters don't start that way, though. Just as a flower starts as a seed buried in the ground, every hero has to start somewhere. They're only a fraction of what they can become. They're missing...something. But they don't know what. And until they know who they are, they won't know what they need to feel whole.

This awareness can start slowly or it can be thrust upon them all at once. However it starts, there's no stopping it or going back.

It's strange how once a hero begins to emerge from the depths of where they've been buried, the dragons begin to awaken. Almost as if they sense the immense potential that had, until now, lain dormant.

As if they had always known this hero was fated to become...more.

What is Displaced History?

I write Displaced History, which means I take people from one time and place and magically transport them somewhere completely different.

For example: A ship full of passengers from Regency England is displaced from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean to a landlocked lake at the end of the Ice Age.

All sorts of chaos ensues.

After the dust settles, a new society emerges. As do a whole new set of problems.

It's awesome.

Keep chasing your dreams and slaying your dragons, my friends. I believe in you.

Love, Lysandra James
